I am following http://herc.ws/board...t-for-hercules/ to setup my client side. I have tried patching several clients (2013-08-07, 2014-02-05, 2014-04-16a), tried disabling recover login and adding a launcher (loki), checked that the patch for disabling ragexe name was applied, etc. However whenever i start the client it just does not start, the process can be seen in the task manager, but it does not start and there is no error message to help me.

The DATA.INI file is not created, i also have no idea about where i need to create the xml for the client settings, and the resources around are very scarce.

check and make sure the following files are present i had the same issue

 

sclientinfo  has no empty field (example: <loading></loading>) there has to be something in between it

make sure all lua files are up to date   this link will provide you with a clean data folder that is somewhat up to date

as for the DATA.ini create your own if you dont see one in the RO folder

 

open up notepad> type the following

 

[Data]

1=yourdata.grf (replace yourdata with the name of the grf you made assuming you made one)

2=data.grf

 

the final step is to save it as an INI file inside the ro folder 

 

super important that you give the file an extension DATA.INI (INI being the extension

 

 make sure that  you select all files when it prompts you to name your file and save it.

what about your system folder does it have everything it needs are all lua files updated? for that particular folder as well?

I copied the files that the guide asked for (some .lua and .lub) and the fonts folder.

I had to update the client. That was not mentioned in that guide tho. Thanks for the help sikiro
