Union + Dmg modifiers

Since the Union self-dmg works almost like GC (like doing coma on yourself when helding a demi-human coma weapon), I was wondering if damage modifier items would do the same.
I mean, GC self damage will be reduced if you use Demi-human or holy damage reductive items, and even nullyfied if you use Angeling.
Would Union work the same way? And if you use an armor with the same attribute as your weapon, would the self-dmg be nullyfied?

I could test it myself if I had time... Sorry if it's already working as intend.
