GET READY GET HYPE (The road to Lua with HPM)

Posted by sketchyphoenix, 24 July 2013 · 1802 views

lua script engine HPM
I got around to reading HPM's documentation and decided I'm moving my Lua Engine to Hercules and making it fully compatible with HPM. It's going to integrate into Hercules rather than being a replacement engine and with that it will be 100% complete. It's going to be a lot easier to maintain and develop for using HPM since I don't have to write all my code as source edits that won't work well with any update from the main project.

I'll wait until HPM's next major update to go through my script commands to make sure anything that needs to be changed gets changed, then I can start releasing it.

This is most exciting! Thanks for the head's up SP!

Today I started working on moving the core functions to HPM. I guess tomorrow I will be migrating some of the commands! I don't expect commands to be long, and then the engine is pretty much ready to go.

I am happy to see your work around Hercules. Thanks for the release.

kewl :-) . Waiting for this one.

Nice. will be waiting for this awesome release.

Nice one Sketchy <3

I will certainly use it, with no doubt!

Very nicely done :D

sketchy, you got me interested.

Any updates *-* ?

Looking forward to it :D

I'm waiting on the hooks update for HPM to go live. Once that happens, If I find something in the code that I want to have supported then I'll ask for it. Once that's taken care of, I'll release the core of the engine which will simply load up the Lua VM and each update after that will be conversions from the old project.

One thing that I opted to not do earlier but I will do in the HPM version is allow for better integration with athena script. It shouldn't be too much of a hassle to allow a script to call something in Lua. Actually now that I remember, there was a function I never used specifically for running chunks of Lua that was intended to replace the scripts that are on items. I can use that then.

Any Updates, There was much HPM update in paste days.

No announcements on hooks being in yet. I haven't checked the repo yet since I'm just getting off work but I didn't forget!

Just waiting for the right time.

I could swear I've recently read about the hooks already been added on the repo. Will try to keep you informed.

Hooking should be days away with some luck.

Aannnd it's available, go for it Sketchy~

My v0.01

When I get some time after work, I'll start the migration process.

P.S. .dll only no .so since I don't have any more *nix environments to work on and too lazy to download one to set up.

Why not give source code? So one can compile themself.

Lua For HPM

Latest Release: v0.01
Internal Version: v0.03

Features: Proof of Concept. The Lua VM is loaded and a lua script is run.

Working On: Adding npcs works, which is pretty much all anyone needs to do most scripts. Area scripts are being worked on (unless units aren't supported by HPM yet).

The Ink and the Canvas

Here you'll find random musings and information about my LuaForHPM Plugin.
